Changing Attitudes towards UK Beach Breaks

Thirty years ago, a trip to the seaside would have involved donkey rides, walking along a pier, eating sticks of rock and watching Punch and Judy, but nowadays family are more concerned about their smart phones, according to a new survey by Beach Retreats.

The survey, which questioned 2,000 families on their UK holiday habits, found that families have ditched traditional UK beach past times in favour of technology, with 40% of people saying that taking their phone to the beach is more important than a towel, and 68% revealing they can’t fully enjoy their seaside holiday without their phone.

Furthermore, many activities which were popular thirty years ago have now massively fallen out of favour, including sending postcards, riding a donkey and eating rock. On the other hand, walking along piers and playing board games have remained in favour.
