Christmas Shopping in New York

Who’s coming with us?

After Norwegian airlines announced their amazingly cheap deals to New York, many others have been getting in on the action.

This is great news for anyone wanting to hop across the pond to see the big apple. We don’t know many people who don’t have New York on their bucket list, we definitely do, as well as most of America!

Flights

We checked on Skyscanner today to get an idea of costs for long weekends in December.

To give you an example correct as per 23/11/2017 : If two people were to fly on Friday 8th December and travel back on Monday 11th it would cost them £406 pp if they went through Expedia.

Accomodation

Then, with Air bnb being extremely popular in the USA, there are many places to choose from to lay down your head and catch your zzz’s.

You can get some lovely rooms with a view of the city starting at £50 per night which is a bargain – we’ve paid more for places in the UK.

If you haven’t heard of Air bnb, it is a company who provide listings for accommodation worldwide. They have been around since 2008 but have grown massively in popularity over recent years. Whether you want a room or a flat, a villa or even a castle they’ve got you covered!

In more than 65,000 Cities, 191 Countries and growing, it is the place to book your accommodation wherever you’re travelling.

Things To Do

Air bnb’s website also provide you with restaurants near your accommodation, as well as experiences close by which range from Coffee tasting, Museum Visits and Wine Tasting to Dance classes, Comedy classes or a Circus class!

The range is endless so you will never get time to be bored.

Don’t forget to make time for the mandatory NYC sites, such as the Empire State building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Broadway and more.

This includes booking for Broadway shows, because queuing for tickets after you arrive could eat into your exploring time, as well as being quite expensive.

If you prefer the less touristy attractions, it has recently been announced that Kellogg’s are opening a permanent cereal café in Union Square, following the success of their pop up that closed earlier this year.

That has just made it to the top of our list as reasons to go, as if we needed anymore?

The new store opens on 7th December, for more information click here.

As always, ensure you have your travel insurance in place after booking to cover for cancellation as well as whilst you’re travelling.
