It was recently reported in the USA that Tom Stuker from Bloomingdale, Illinois, has just become the first United Airlines frequent flyer to complete 10 million miles.
This incredible milestone occurred a few days ago when he was flying somewhere between Los Angeles and Chicago, and he was treated to champagne on the flight.
He was greeted at Chicago’s O’Hare airport by the CEO of United Airlines, and presented with the first titanium Mileage Plus membership card. He will also have the honour of having his name painted on the side of one of their aircraft.
In order to reach this milestone, Mr Stuker has flown on 5,962 flights, and travelled to all 50 US states, as well as 200 round trips to Australia and nearly 30 round trips to Asia.
It is reported that there have been three occasions when he has spent five consecutive days in the air, living solely on airline food.
We can only hope that Mr Stuker had a suitable annual multi-trip travel insurance to cover him for each of his trips, because that would be far more economical, and convenient, than taking out a separate policy each time he travelled.
If you are a frequent traveller, you would be well advised to take out a multi-trip travel policy to ensure that you are always protected when you go away, especially if you get the opportunity to do so at short notice.
