Have a healthy holiday
We all look forward to our annual holiday, It very easy to get carried away whilst on our trips, here are a few tips to help you along your way:
It’s important to drink as much water as possible to keep your body hydrated. When flying, drinking a glass of water every hour before, during and just after a flight can significantly reduce the effects of jet-lag.
In hot countries, a short siesta in the middle of the day is a great way to keep out of the heat and recharge the batteries before venturing out to enjoy activities in the evening
If you’re visiting a warm country, make sure you apply sunscreen to exposed body parts. Sunburn can be very painful and in some cases could lead to requiring medical care – always protect your skin.
Swimming is a great way to exercise. However, whilst swimming may have the cooling effect, the sun’s rays can still penetrate through water so do make sure that you use a good water-resistant sun cream or spray.
Do lots of walking and get involved in physical activities when you can. Swimming, water aerobics and yoga are all great fun. However, do maintain a balance – extreme physical exertion in hot weather can lead to heatstroke.
Mosquitoes and other insects can be a pain when on holiday in warmer climes. Use insect repellent to keep these pests at bay.
Most of us like to have a drink or two when we are on holiday but alcohol dehydrates the body and can cause illness in hot, humid climates. For every alcoholic drink, it helps to have a glass of water as well.
Most importantly, Enjoy yourself:
Don’t take work with you! Turn off that mobile phone or Blackberry and take out the camera instead to capture those magic moments with your loved ones.
