If Children could Plan Holidays…

Apparently they’d be very practical, according to a new survey carried out by the Blackpools Back Campaign.

The survey, which questioned 2,000 kids aged between 6 and 17, found that what children really want from a family break is short travelling times, a sandy beach and a theme or water park to keep them entertained!
Many adults consider great weather as one of the main factors of a summer holiday, however only 1/20 children said that bad weather would be a barrier to their holiday fun.
Furthermore, rather than travelling abroad in search of sunnier climates, over 70% of the participants said that their perfect trip wouldn’t include a plane journey, and over 55% only wanted a maximum of 4 hours travelling time between their home and resort.
Over 86% of children said their perfect holiday would take place at the sea side, with nearly 70% stipulating that the beach should be a mere 10 minute walk or less from their accommodation!
Interestingly, 6/10 children thought it was important to visit a resort where they could understand the local language too.
This survey (although perhaps slightly biased towards UK travel) seems to suggest that children have a very practical mind when it comes to holidays, and far from expecting expensive breaks, they would be happy spending their entire holiday on a UK beach – something you can discuss with your kids next time they hound you about Disney Land!
