Top 10 Home Comforts

Taking a holiday abroad should be about disconnecting from everyday life and experiencing something new, however many travellers have a range of home comforts they pine for or cannot live without during their trip.

Sleeping

According to research carried out by e-bookers, nearly 50% of Brits reported missing their bed at home more than they missed their friends, family or partner whilst abroad. They didn’t however forget their beloved pets; with over 20% pining for their animals, or their favourite TV shows; with 1/10 cursing the local TV stations for not showing Corrie.

The Co-operative food also conducted some research which found that a further 1/5 will yearn for a decent cup of tea during their break, and so over 50% will take their favourite brand of tea bags away with them! 48% will also take some biscuits to dip in their tea.

The results of the surveys found the top 10 things we Brits miss most when abroad are…

  1. Our beds
  2. Our pets
  3. Our own toilets
  4. Decent tea bags
  5. Wifi
  6. Laptops
  7. TV
  8. Relatives
  9. Friends
  10. Our own fridge full of our own food!

And the top 10 foods that we just have to take with us…

  1. Tea bags
  2. Biscuits
  3. Coffee
  4. Crisps
  5. Brown sauce
  6. Noodles
  7. Ketchup
  8. Powdered milk
  9. Sugar
  10. Instant mash potato!

I know we all love our home comforts, but we musn’t waste precious holiday time worrying about finding English Tea! Instead, why not try some local tea or speciality instead? If we don’t open ourselves up to new experiences when in a new destination, we will never really experience what they have to offer.

If you’re planning a holiday, just remember to buy quality travel insurance before your trip to protect you against any holiday disasters – for example your case going missing with your tea bags inside! Visit Holidaysafe for more information.
