Continuing with the active theme – if you’re looking for an outdoor winter holiday filled with natural beautiful, then Gower is the perfect destination for you. It was the first place in Britain to be named ‘an area of outstanding natural beauty’ in 1956 and has been scooping up awards ever since. Walk along miles of pristine beaches to blow away your cobwebs, and then head over to Swansea for a taste of city life.

Every year a dazzling fireworks display is designed for London, with millions of fireworks reflected in the Thames as they frame the London Eye and Big Ben. Book everything in advance to avoid disappointment and expensive prices, as the capital is always filled with revellers at this time of year.
Christmas markets are a great excuse for a winter break, but if you can’t afford a trip over to Germany, then don’t worry because the UK has a whole host of amazing markets – and Manchester has some of the best. The city usually hosts several markets which offer an array of food, drink, gifts, jewellery and leather goods. Purchase a mulled wine and wonder around the stalls to get the in the festive spirit.
