Your summer holiday may be a distant memory, but the winter holidays are just around the corner. Many people choose not to take a winter break, and instead spend time at home watching countless TV re-runs and wrapping presents. Walk along miles of pristine beaches to blow away your cobwebs, and then head over to Swansea for a taste of city life.

Every year a dazzling fireworks display is designed for London, with millions of fireworks reflected in the Thames as they frame the London Eye and Big Ben. Christmas markets are a great excuse for a winter break, but if you can’t afford a trip over to Germany, then don’t worry because the UK has a whole host of amazing markets – and Manchester has some of the best. The city usually hosts several markets which offer an array of food, drink, gifts, jewellery and leather goods. Purchase a mulled wine and wonder around the stalls to get the in the festive spirit.
