And the Winner of our Term Time Holiday Survey is…

Back in May we launched a Term Time Holiday survey, to ask parents for their views on John Platt’s successful court case and changing attitudes to term time holidays.  As a thank you for answering just 5 short questions, we automatically entered every entrant into a prize draw to win a £100 John Lewis gift card.

I am very happy to announce that the winner of our prize draw was…

Clare from West Lothian

Once again I would like to thank Clare on behalf of the entire Holidaysafe team for taking the time to complete our survey, and we hope she enjoys spending her voucher.

The results of the survey were extremely interesting, and revealed that 31% of parents have changed their attitude to term-time holidays following Jon Platt’s recent court victory, and 58% of parents admitted that term-time holidays were their only option for an affordable family holiday.

Last year we conducted a similar survey, and found that 30% of parents were considering taking their child out of school early to get a more affordable holiday deal, whereas this year this figure has more than doubled to 67%, showing the real effect the landmark court case has had on parents and their views of school fines.

Head Teachers are now awaiting clarification on next steps from their local councils, which may include a stricter policy on term time holidays with fewer loop holes, but in the meantime it seems that class rooms may be quite empty towards the end of term this year.
