Having to curtail or cut short your trip is a horrible experience, especially if you are forced to return home early because of illness, injury or a sick family member. If you need to come home early and would like to make a claim, we have listed all of the information you should need below.  What is curtailment cover?

Most travel insurance policies will include a section called curtailment, which will cover the costs of cutting your trip short and returning home early.  This section of your policy applies if you have to return home early due to specified reasons such as: injury or illness of yourself, a close relative or someone travelling with you.

Am I eligible to make a curtailment claim and how can I start the process?

If you realise you need to cut your trip short, we would ask that you contact our emergency assistance team before booking any return travel. This will allow the team to discuss your circumstances, and tell you whether your circumstances fall within the policy terms and conditions. The claims department will then assess each claim based on the individual circumstances, so the best way to start the process is to send us a completed curtailment claim form. The front page will explain all the information and evidence we need to assess your claim – please complete the form as fully, truthfully and accurately as possible, as this will allow us to process your claim as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Where do I send my completed Claim Form?

Once you have completed your claim form, we recommend that you take copies (just in case), attach all supporting documents and then send recorded delivery to:

How long will it take to process my claim?

  • Turnaround time – 15 – 20 working days from receipt of a fully completed claim form.
  • Phone calls – Wherever possible, call backs will be returned within 48 hours.
  • Letter Response -Incoming correspondence will be responded to within 10 working days of receipt.
