Holiday cover is often compared on price. Sadly this is not the best method of telling if you are getting the cover and policy terms that you need and require. Whilst price is important in anything that we purchase, with something as important as travel insurance it is imperative that you look at:

  ·  Cover sections, such as cancellation, baggage, money and medical expenses cover
  ·  Cover limits, such as enough cancellation cover for your trip or adequate medical insurance
  ·  Inner cover limits, such as single article limit for baggage and amount paid per 12 hours for departure delay
  ·  Terms relating to pre-existing medical conditions
  ·  The main exclusions relating to the policy, such as do you have cover if you are involved in an accident on the way to the      airport? Or do you have cover for spectacles or sunglasses? Or are you covered for cancellation if you are made      redundant? Or are you covered for partaking in activities whilst you are on holiday?
  ·  The excess on the policy. This is the first amount of each claim that you have to make before the policy comes into effect.

The term, good value holiday cover means different things to different people; Our advice is to look for a company that offers a policy with good cover levels, realistic terms and conditions, at a price you can afford. But most of all make sure that you feel you can trust them. This probably means they might not be the cheapest, but if you need to use the policy for a medical emergency at least you know they will be there to support you when you need them.
