Important Information for Holidaysafe Customers Travelling to the USA

Between Saturday 17th and Monday 19th September numerous explosive devices were discovered in New York and New Jersey. One bomb was detonated in Manhattan, injuring 29 people, the other devices were found by police before they could hurt anyone. Everyone at Holidaysafe was extremely shocked by the attempted attacks, and our sincerest wishes go out to all of the people affected.

If you are in the USA now

Keep in touch with your tour operator and follow any advice from the American authorities.

If you have sought medical attention, please contact our emergency team, Emergency Assistance Facilities, on +44 (0) 203 829 6745 as soon as you can, so we can liaise directly with your doctors and family.

We completely understand that this event may have left you wanting to return home early. In this instance you should contact your Travel Agent or Tour Operator to see if they can assist you. If you are travelling independently, you should make your own arrangements to leave by either altering your return tickets where possible or booking into an alternative form of transport.

Travel insurance policies do have very specific terms and conditions, especially with regards to acts of terrorism; unfortunately this means Holidaysafe will not be able to cover claims for curtailment.

If you have booked a trip to the USA

We appreciate that following the recent events you may not wish to travel now, so you should liaise directly with your Tour Operator or Travel Agent to arrange either cancellation or a change in travel dates. Please note, Holidaysafe will be more than happy to change the dates on your policy (with no administration fee), if this is the option you decide to take.

In the event that you are unable to move the trip to an alternative destination, and are offered a refund from your travel agent or tour operator, we are happy to offer a full refund of premium on the understanding that no claim is to be made against the policy.

Most travel insurance policies will not provide cover for cancellation due to acts of terrorism, as this should be covered by your Tour Operator or Travel Agent. Unfortunately this means Holidaysafe will not be able to cover cancellations due to this event, unless you have purchased our Premier Platinum policy, and the FCO change their advice on visiting the USA after you book.
