Storm Eleanor

Today on the 2nd January 2018, the Met Office has released a Yellow warning for today and tomorrow, due to Storm Eleanor.

The warning is from 6pm tonight until 6pm tomorrow and has been issued because of Britain’s 5th named storm of the season. Warnings have been given as gusts of 80mph are set to hit the UK later on today.

Coastal areas will be affected by potential floods due to the winds, and also debris from the beach. Strong gusts of winds will cause large waves and spray also, so people are encouraged to stay away from the shoreline.

Flood alerts have also been noted on the Met Office website, so please ensure you are up to date. They have also advised power cuts are likely, as well as disruption to mobile phone services.

We advise all of our customers who are due to travel today to please check your route before travelling in case of floods or debris closing them, and leave plenty of time to get to your destination.

It is unclear as to whether or not the storm will cause and delays or cancellations at Airports or not, but we advise all customers due to fly between 6pm tonight and 6pm tomorrow to check with their airline before travelling to the airport. Heathrow have confirmed the same to us.
