Survey reveals Biggest Attraction Flops in the World
A recent vote on social media site Reddit.com has apparently revealed the World’s most disappointing tourist attractions, despite being some of the most visited attractions on Earth!
Stonehenge in Wiltshire, for example, attracts over one million visitors annually, and is amongst Britain’s most popular tourist sites, however Reddit users branded it ‘disappointing’. Despite being built over 5,000 years ago, Stonehenge was reprimanded for being too close to the main road, for being too small, and because visitors couldn’t get very close to the monument.
Conversely, it wasn’t just Stonehenge to receive a thorough dressing down; Los Angles in the US was branded ‘uninteresting’, despite its celebrity walk of fame and glamorous reputation. People also commented that LA was too big, and that public transport links were not great.
Another surprising entry was the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, which were pushed aside for being too close to the city. The Egyptian Pyramids have long been considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, but apparently fell down because travellers ‘could see them from Pizza Hut’!
Interestingly, Reddit users branded Paris ‘the worst city on Earth’, despite being named the most visited city in the world with over 30 million visitors last year. Venice and Dubai weren’t far behind Paris, which were all branded as unfriendly, dirty, overpriced or simply as massive tourist traps.
Other tourist attractions to face the wrath of Reddit users were the beautiful beaches of Jamaica, the Taj Mahal, Niagara Falls, and Times Square.
However, it is important to note that many Reddit users actually took to the site to defend these locations, and explain the great experiences they had.
