Women find Holidays more Stressful than Men

The title of this piece may not be shocking for most, but according to recent research by travel site Momondo, women find holidays more stressful than men.

The study, which polled 1,000 British men and women, found that women have significantly more stress and anxiety at every stage of the holiday, from planning and travelling, to enjoying the trip and returning home. On the other hand, only 41% of men said they felt any sort of stress throughout the entire holiday process.

When it comes to planning a trip, 33% of women found this the most stressful part of the holiday, compared to only 23% of men. Once actually on their trip, 26% of women still admitted to feeling some type of stress throughout the duration of the holiday, compared to just 19% of the men polled. It doesn’t stop there – when they return home from their trip, 28% of women feel stressed compared to just 17% of men.

Experts have commented that this type of prolonged stress over a period which should be relaxing is probably caused by a perceived lack of control, rather than individual situations. There is so much which can potentially go wrong with a trip abroad – illness, delayed or cancelled flights, ash clouds etc. – all of which are completely outside of our control.
