And the Winner of our Eurozone Travel Survey is…
In May we launched a Eurozone travel survey, with the aim of discovering how recent updates on the European Financial Crisis may affect the way our customers travel. The survey was a great success, with over 550 responses to our questions on currency and destinations.
The results of the survey showed some interesting trends, for example following the news that Greece could be exiting the Euro, (which could shutdown ATMs at the major banks,) over 60% of travellers said they would carry more cash around with them. This may seem obvious, however nearly 30% of the same respondents had failed to check the cash limits on their travel insurance, to ensure they are covered for the amount they are taking.
This could be an expensive mistake, as travellers risk only being covered for a small proportion of the cash they are actually travelling with, if it is lost or stolen. We would always advise customers to check the cash limits on their polkicy, to ensure it meets their needs. If the limit is too low, call your insurer to upgrade your policy.
The survey also found that over 70% of travellers still prefer to travel with cash over pre-paid cash cards or Travellers Cheques, and that over 20% of respondents would consider changing their holiday destination, if the Eurozone crisis gets any worse.
