Could you resist the ‘Best Job in the World’?
Most backpackers, gap year students and travel enthusiasts dream of travelling the world, working abroad and experiencing a new culture – if only it was an expense free adventure.
It may sound too good to be true, but last week Tourism Australia launched the opportunity to land one of six ‘Best Jobs in the World, ranging from ‘lifestyle photographer’ to ‘Outback Adventurer’.
The six positions on offer include;
. Chief ‘Funster’ in New South Wales – “If you’re the life of the party, always in search of the best events and coolest festivals, then why not do it for a living?”
. Outback Adventurer in the Northern Territory – “If you were born with a sense of adventure we have the ultimate experience for you.”
. Park Ranger in Queensland – “If you have an adventurous spirit, a connection with nature and a love of the outdoors, you’re the person our national parks have been waiting for.”
. Wildlife Caretaker in South Australia – “If the great outdoors is your true calling, we want to hear from you.”
. Lifestyle Photographer in Melbourne – “Here’s your opportunity to be a lifestyle photojournalist working in Melbourne, the world’s most liveable city with Time Out”
. Taste Master in Western Australia – “If you have a palette for all things tasty, we have a job that will appeal to your senses.”
If any of these jobs are wetting your adventurous appetite, you should also know that living costs are covered, and you can expect a salary of A$1000,000 for 6 months work.
The roles are provided by Australia’s Working Holiday Maker program, which is trying to promote tourism among their largest tourist group – 18 to 30 year olds, who faithfully travel to Australia in large numbers every year despite the high Dollar.
Unsurprisingly the roles have proved extremely popular, in one week Tourism Australia has had over 75,000 applications for the six roles, and applications don’t close until 10th April at 9pm (AEST).
