Hawaiian Island Maui the new Orlando?
According to a travel trends survey by the Travel Leaders Group, the Hawaiian island Maui has become extremely popular with travellers. The survey, which used data from travel agents, ranked Maui second overall in the survey’s list of favourite destinations, in fact over 80% of the travel agents surveyed, mentioned Maui in their responses.
Maui came second only to popular holiday destination Las Vegas, which attracts visitors with its bright lights, casinos and wacky architecture. Just to put these results in to perspective, by coming second Maui actually beat Orlando (Florida) – which attracts millions of visitors to Disneyland and Universal Studios every year.
Maui has been increasingly growing year on year as a ‘must visit’ travel destination, and it’s completely understandable, the island is absolutely beautiful and when you consider its ‘aloha’ spirit, pristine beaches, great night life, beautiful weather, golf courses, lush greenery, national park and the chance to see humpback whales – you can understand why so many flock there every year.
In fact Maui has been voted ‘Best Island’ by Conde Nast Traveller for seventeen years! Not to mention all the other ‘Best Beaches’ accolades Maui has under its belt.
With more people travelling abroad every year, and travelling further afield, it seems that Maui will only grow in popularity, with backpackers and seniors alike.
