Travel Resolutions to make in 2015
With Christmas right around the corner, many people are already thinking about everything that has happened in 2014, and everything that they want to achieve in 2015. These resolutions can range from health goals like quitting smoking or cutting down on alcohol, to ensuring they have new and exciting experiences next year, like travelling the world.
Travel, in one form or another, features on the bucket lists of most people nowadays, but many people fail to achieve their travel dreams. This may be because a recent survey found that over £5 billion of holiday leave is wasted by British employees every year, or it may simply be because planning a trip can be a daunting task.
For anyone who is resolving to travel more in 2015, here are some simply and achievable goals to help you on your way;
Many people may feel that their holiday budget means they cannot plan spontaneous trips, however this is simply not true. Sign up to travel sites and keep an eye out for amazing discounts and holiday sales to pick up some fantastic discounts on destinations you may never have considered, or may have always dreamed of visiting. If you’re smart and do your research, you can plan several tips within 2015 without blowing the budget.
Just remember to purchase a Multi Trip or annual travel insurance policy at the start of the year, so you can jet off at any time knowing each trip is covered.
Face your Fears
Travel is all about stepping outside of your comfort zone to experience a different place, culture and traditions. Try to do one thing in 2015 that pushes you outside of your comfort zone, whether that is taking a long haul flight, a longer than average trip, or planning a bungee jump, you will feel enriched for having the experience.
When you go abroad you can probably pick the tourists out of the crowd quite easily, because they usually have their nose stuck in a guide book. Just once, try pocketing the map and closing the guide book, and simply wander around your destination. You may get a little lost, but you may also find something amazing that most tourists will miss. (You can always get the map back out, but you may never return to that place!)
Disconnect and Relax
Many people struggle to ignore their work emails or their social media feeds when they’re away from home, but during you’re next trip why not try to a technology detox to really relax and reconnect with your travelling companion. You’ll feel refreshed and ready to get back to work or update your friends by the end of the trip.
Aim for an Authentic Experience
This may sound like a pretentious thing to say, but so many holiday makers travel to amazing locations and never actually experience what the location really has to offer. Why not try talking to some locals, learning a few simple phrases in the local language, taste some delicious local cuisine and visit some important or historical places.
