The Rise of the Babymoon
What are your travel plans for the next nine months? Most peoples will include at least one holiday abroad, but would you change your plans if you or your partner was pregnant? According to recent research, a third of couples plan on taking a celebrity inspired ‘babymoon’ during their pregnancy.
A ‘babymoon’ is basically a couple’s last holiday before the baby arrives, giving them time to relax, unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet before their bundle of joy joins the party. The survey of over 1,000 people found that 28% were planning a babymoon, and 37% wished they had gone on one in the past.
Interestingly, over half of respondents confirmed that their babymoon inspiration had come from celebrities, such as Coleen Rooney who visited Barbados during her most recent pregnancy, with many people booking the same destination and even resort as their favourite influencer.
One in ten women said they would prefer to babymoon without their partner, instead opting to spend time with friends and family. However the majority would choose a week away in the sun with their significant other.
