Travelling as a family can be an exciting experience and give you all the chance to create new lasting memories. However, it can sometimes be difficult to entertain every member of the family. So, if you’re planning a holiday in Europe and looking for activities that you can all get stuck into, why not check out our top 5 family friendly water parks? After all, they’re a great way to enjoy a ‘splashing’ good time with your loved ones!
Starting in Spain, this Wild-West themed water park is the largest in Magaluf and the only themed water park in Mallorca. It is great for families looking for an action-packed day and has something for all ages. For the adrenaline junkies in the family this park is home to the 11th highest slide in the world, a thirty-metre-high ride called ‘The Beast’ and ‘The Boomerang’. Made up of three main areas, Western Town, Indian Town and El Paso, the waterpark also has sections more appropriate for younger visitors including Kidzworld, a section filled with smaller slides and shallow pools, chill out areas with relaxing swimming pools, ice cream parlours and fast-food restaurants to indulge in when you need a break from all the splashing around.
If you’re looking for some family fun in Cyprus, then Water World is Europe’s number 1 themed water park. The huge open-air park is located in Ayia Napa and is inspired by ancient Greek myths. With slides and sculptures named after the Greek gods, you can have a blast and learn Greek mythology all at the same time. The park is made up of 35 rides and attractions with lots of them being suitable for children and families. There are also more extreme slides for older water slide enthusiasts. Some of the more daring slides include ‘The Fall of Icarus’, a steep orange slide that you descend seated in an inflatable rubber ring, as well as The ‘Quest of Hercules’, which is a winding slide made up of two flumes leading you out of a snake’s mouth as you plummet into the pool below.
When you need to take a breather from all the fun the water parks main onsite restaurant seats over 350 people and has a wide variety of hot and cold foods available. If you’re located further away or simply fancy eating somewhere else, they also have 7 other onsite eateries. These include ice cream parlours, coffee and tea stands, a creperie with sweet and savoury options, an English style fish and chips shop, a pizza parlour and a burger restaurant. You really are spoilt for choice!
This one is a great option for those looking to stay closer to home. A stay at Alton Towers allows you to experience the fun of a waterpark as well as lots of other family activities. For the days you want to splash around, the tropical lagoon-themed play area has large water features, a lazy river, as well as small and bigger slides making it appropriate for all ages. There is also an outdoor pool area if you’re visiting in the hotter months. The outdoor area features two water slides and a warm bubbling jacuzzi to lay back in while you watch the kids play. When you’re feeling peckish there are a host of food facilities available both in the theme park and water park areas where you can get both hot and cold foods, plus snacks and ice cream too. What more could you want!
Eftalia Splash Resort is a waterpark and hotel resort that is available to visit either for a day trip or as part of an overnight stay. The waterpark offers a huge selection of multicoloured slides, with 14 of these being primarily focused for adults. For younger guests there are dedicated kids’ zones with pirate themed shallow pools, as well as playgrounds and splash parks. As well as this, there’s a relaxation zone with comfy sun loungers and a beach bar that serves soft drinks, beer and wine for you all to take regular breaks at. For lunch, there are also snack bars and a la carte restaurants serving Turkish, Italian, Asian and English foods. So, there’s plenty of options to please the whole family!
This wouldn’t be the ultimate ‘top 5 waterparks in Europe’ blog without mentioning Siam Park. This waterpark has made number 1 in the world nine consecutive times and is described as a ‘spectacular aquatic kingdom’. Spread over 100 acres of land and divided into different zones, some of the most popular themes at this waterpark include, a pirate zone with waterslides and interactive games, a family zone with smaller slides for children, a 1,150-foot white sand beach with a wave pool, and a lazy river for the whole family to enjoy. In terms of slides, you have the ‘Tower of Power’ which is a 28-metre drop and actually goes through a shark tank, ‘The Dragon’, which seats four people in a rubber ring, and ‘Singha’ which is like a water rollercoaster. Lifeguards are located in all areas of the park to help you keep the kids safe, so it’s the perfect day out for the whole family. Inside the park there is a wide variety of food and drink facilities including a floating market selling snacks and drinks. The main beach club sells cocktails, burgers, pizzas and delicious sweet treats to help you keep everyone happy. It sounds like the perfect place to visit during a family holiday!
